First race of Twilight Marathon Series completed on the Onka

First event of the Twilight Marathon Series run in near perfect conditions.
Wednesday evening saw the first race of the the three race Twilight Marathon Series run on the Onkaparinga River.  Conditions were near perfect with high water levels and an incoming tide for the start.  The mass start provided plenty of excitement for the 22 paddlers.  The field was lead home by K1 juniors Matthew Goble and Dale Thompson in a time of 1:08:30 for the 14 km course.  Marc Brehin and Mick Cooper lead home the veterans with times in the low 1:15s.  A bunch of TKs and SK2 enjoyed vigorous competition for the return leg of the race turning in an average speed just over 10km/h.
