The Jock McLean Memorial Race – A fitting memorial to a keen paddler

The Holdfast Bay Canoe Club would like to personally invite you and all of the paddlers to the Jock McLean Memorial Canoe Race to be held at the Holdfast Bay Canoe Club, at the Patawalonga on Sun 28 August from 9.00 AM. Please see the attached flyer which has the details.

It is an 18 km race – so I hope that this will encourage many marathon paddlers to participate. You may remember that Jock McLean was paddling at the Patawalonga on 29 January this year, when he suffered an aneurism of the brain and fell into the water. He died later that day following inversible brain damage. We will be dedicating a Memorial (Bronze plaque on large granite rock) to Jock at the Pat after the race. We will have sumptuous catering before and after the event. We hope to have 200 canoe, kayak and ski paddlers competiting in this wonderful event, as a tribute to Jock.

For catering purposes, please let me know how many would like to attend. Many thanks and I look forward to catching up with many of you on Sunday 28th August at the Jock McLean Memorial Canoe Race.
