All Marathon Canoe Club members and other paddlersin South Australia should make every effort to support the Canoe & Kayak events at this years Bay Sports Festival.

The Bay Sports Festival is a unique event in South AustraliaÕs sport/recreation calendar, running annually at the Glenelg foreshore from 26th to 31st December.  Sporting and recreational activities have been held at Glenelg every year since 1886 as part of celebrations of South AustraliaÕs birthday.

As part of the Festival there will be Canoe and Kayak races on the Patawalonga from 8am, Saturday 27.12.08, Patawalonga, hosted by the Holdfast Bay Canoe Club.

In 2008 there will be racing events for single & double kayaks / canoe, outrigger canoes, surf skis, over 200 Metre, 500 Metre and 6 KM distances. We are again expecting hot competition on the water. Come and see our local current Olympics Paddler Ð Hannah Davis, World Master Champion Ð Bennett Maxwell, and many of the top Kayaking Juniors who will be competing in the 2009 Australian Youth Olympics in January.

This year there is over $3,000 in prize money donated by sponsors, with local canoe and SLSC clubs winning valuable funds.

Glenelg Surf Club / Holdfast Bay Canoe Club will again support the event after being unchallenged for the last four years and running away with the prize money.
