SUP the Murray

First paddler to SUP the Murray

The Murray River – Australia’s longest, 2,375km to be exact – and Paul Langbein has recently paddled it’s length on a Stand up paddle from the river source (the snow near Thredbo) to Goolwa.

Paul completed the trip, without the aid of any kind of combustion engine – any movement he made was ‘powered by Paul.’ In the process becoming the first person to Stand up paddle the Murray River whilst raising money for the Kids with Cancer Foundation.

Along the way, Paul encountered some challenges – like small rapids, fatigue and some pretty hot temperatures.

Before the trip Paul stated: “I’m expecting the main paddle to take up to 70 days after about 15 days for the hike and the white water. It should be pretty straight forward, the plan is to be at the Murray River Mouth at the start of December, I’m hoping to get off the water before all the wake boats come out for summer holidays. 🙂 I used to be a lover of the wake boat….. I think soon I’ll be a hater. haha”

Along with the Kids with Cancer foundation – Paul also raised awareness for the Red cross, and the Australian Conservation Foundation.
